The Hidden Ride
and a New Vista

7 July 2022

Set off from LENMED Hospital with Peter, Digby abd Des. Peter had a route planned and I followed him up the Currys Post Road (the CPR). The CPR basically takes you out of the uMngeni Valley and the Dargle and Karkloof Valleys that lie to the left and right of Howick as you head in the direction of Gauteng. You are going UP onto a platue of sorts and the hiterland that stretches beyond it.

Most of the routes we typically follow take a 'right' off the CPR and head into the SAPPI and Mondi Plantations. Today was different, we took a left at the Cemetry. We were now on a road that I had seen before, but not yet been along. Well it was a great diversion that afforded tremendous views in the direction of Midmar Dam and the Dargle Valley. It also took us down and then back up again with the climb bringing us back onto the CPR just below the Chicken Farm and the big push to reach the Mandela Bouevard turnoff.

I will be back on a CLEAR day. Thanks Peter.

Almost forgot, we did eventually take a right along the 'Shafton Road' in order to end up at the Mushroom Farm to realize the ultimate objective of these exercises, "a cup of COFFEE!".

Getting it to work on a device that has a touch-screen is a problem that I still have to solve.
