When Edith and I, and the kids as they were then moved to Pietermaritzburg, one of the places we visited was the Everglades. The primary purpose of that visit was to climb iNhlosane, the Mountain at the back of the Everglades. After I retired I took up cycling, and that saw me get good views of iNhlosane when I cycled the Dargle Valley Tar Road. During that time the need to return and climb the mountain again was manifested, and Edith and I did just that when we spent the first two weeks of December 2020 in the Dargle Valley.

When Edith started to cycle the Dargle Valley Tar Road was one of her favourite rides, and so when we moved to Howick some 18 months ago, a ride beyond the tar and onto the dirt road leading to iNhlosane appeared on the Bucket List. Well to today we did just that. We hitched the bikes onto the back of the car to get to Piggly Wiggly, and then tackled the ride. As can be seen from the profile, the ride to the mountain included a lot of climbing, as one would expect. The ride back was of course mostly downhill, and that added to the exhilaration experienced as a result of getting it done. Now another attempt to climb the mountain has probably replaced the desire to cycle there. The bucket List has not got any shorter.
