Part 1:

When Edith and I bought our first home way back in 1975, it came with a single garage. I finally kinda had my own SHED!

One of the first things I constructed in it was a Tool Cupboard that would be fitted to te Garage wall. It travelled with me to our home in Flemmer Place in Pietermaritzburg, and then across town to a Town House in Warrick Road. It is still hanging on the double garage wall of that Unit. I also fitted cupboards in that setup.

After that it was a large double garage at Park View. I also fitted cupboards in that setup and lots of work was done there.

Years ago my Mother-in-Law (Roslyn) became unhappy with what was happening in the Anglican Church that she attended in Scottburgh. She decided to slove that problem by establishing a new branch of the Church of England in South Africa in Scotburgh. To that end she bought a suitable piece of land in Scottburgh. There was a house on the property that had been severly neglected by two sisters who occupied the house until thay passed away.

Edith and I accompanied Roslyn to inspect the house. It was an extraordinary experience. The interior of the home was very neglected. While I cannot remember the details, I vividly recall that there were LOTS of cotton reels inside that house. It was very odd, We also took a look at the garage. In the center of the garage floor there was a pile of boxes and suitcases that were full of stuff. It had obviously been there for some time as white ants had invaded the pile and were hard at work converting it into a large ant heap.

So what is the point of me recalling this sad tale. Well, recently I have become concerned about my own garage. It contains a lot of stuff, and whoever has to sort it out one day might also start to wonder why on earth some of the stuff was kept there. If you want to get a feel for what I am talking about, watch the video.

I guess I should stop now, as tomorrow I need to find a strip of aluminum that I know is in the garage somewhere. I am going to need it in order to construct two washers that are required to effect a repair to a tree in our garden that has a fork that is splitting.

WHOAAA! Almost forgot why I was writing this blog. It is about Edith's FlooWiz Mop. The sponge needs to be repaired.

NO PROBLEM! - she has bought a replacement. Removing the KAPUT sponge was simple, depress the CATCH button and pull it out, DONE! Now slide in the new sponge, WHOAAA! It does not have the catch fitted.

NO PROBLEM! - Go into the garage, remove the catch from the old sponge (ie, undor two screws) Fit the catch to the new sponge.

WHOAAA! The new sponge does have holes to take screws, but not in a position that will accomodate the old catch.

NO PROBLEM! - Find the drill and the drill bits and fix it.

DONE!!!

NO PROBLEM! - Look for the aluminum strip.
IGNORE THE COTTON REELS!

DONE!!!
