Edith and I moved from a rental in Amber Valley to Protea Gardens in December 2021. So did my Weather Station and Web Camera. At that time my WWW home page was Amber Valley based. I immediiately establish a new home page to reflect the our move. Initially it was www.ProteaGardens.co.za. It did not take me long to realize that that was wrong, and so it changed to https://www.robdempster.com/AlloAlloGardens/. I also switched from a Davis Weather Station to an Ambient Weather Station.

More recently I became curious as to how the air that we breath here at Protea Gardens is affected by the the burning of Forestry offcuts and Fire Breaks. So I extended my Weather Station to include a PM25 Wireless Outdoor Particulate Monitor (PM). It can be seen in the photograph on the platform that is attached to the weather station mounting pole. The graphs for the data it captures can be seen by visiting my weather station (link below().

The PM has proved to very useful with respect to monitoring the smoke produced by a fire at the uMngeni Municipal Waste Dump. The figure included below shows the Wind Direction and the Particulate Matter that was recorded for the 21-22 July 2026.
