My Old Camera

During the past two winters Sun Birds have nested in the tree that appears in the photographs below. It is about 2 m from our ktchen window. They successfully fledged chicks on both occasions.

This winter a pair of doves built a nest in the tree. While the Sun Bird nest effectively protected which ever bird was sitting on the eggs, the Doves nest does not. Looking at it inevitable leaves me concerned about the safety of the chicks once they have hatched. Hopefully we will be able to watch them been fledged from the kitchen window

Before I went out to try and photograph the dove, I knew I had to use my OLD Nokia SX 700 HS camera in order to use the 30X Optical Zoom that it affords me. I am sure you will agree with me that it did a good job.

Given that I inevitable take a couple of photographs when Edith and I are out riding our eMTBs here in Cycling Nervana, I have thought about taking the Nokia along for the Macro and Zoom capabilities it affords me. While I did do so once or twice, it has not become a habit, primarily because I thought it was too heavy, and also too bulky.

Now having written about the dove and the Nokia, I thought I should compare the Nokia's weight and size (volume) with that of my cellphone, a SAMSUNG A55 5G. Suprizingly the camera is not only lighter, 260 grams versus 280 grams, it is also smaller: 25x110x30=82599 cubic millimeters versus 80x160x10=128000 cubic millimeters. I have included a photograph comparing the camera and phone below the photographs of the dove, and it certainly seems to suggest that my phone is too BIG!

Here I should mention that in terms of my reading (browsing), it seems like Digital Cameras are generally becoming more popular again. See the links included below.
