A couple of months ago it became noticeable that I was slowing down while riding my bike and walking the dogs. Edith asked me to visit my Doctor, and I did. He did an ECG and was concerned by what he saw. He then contacted my cardiologist and before I knew what had happened, I went into Mediclinic in Pietermaritzburg on a Monday.
After that, and for the next two weeks, everything was a blur. I had a Triple Heart Bypass followed by the removal of plaque from my Carotid Artery.
I was then transferred to the Royal Hospital (RH) for recovery and therapy. After one and a half weeks in the RH I came home.
The folk featured in the photographs are my dearest wife Edith, and our children, Cheryl, Bruce and Heather. Without them I could not have made it. My recovery continues and they are still there, ever patient and supportive.
I am deeply greatful to them, the Doctors, the Nurses and the Hospital Staff.
