'Allo 'Allo Gardens! (AAG) Howick (uMngeni) River Recovery Walk 18 May 2026 |
|
Given that I am now walking quite comfortably with the aid of two crutches, I suggested to Edith that we take the dogs down to the Dog Walk on the banks of uMngeni River. When we got there Edith set off with Tue dogs and one of the provided Poop Paddles. I followed. It was not long and Edith and Rusty had got away from me, Also not long before I caught up with Fergus.
Near the start the path splits. If you follow the river you are headed for the Main Road bridge where you have to turn. If you walk up-stream as Edith and I did, you are headed for the Howick Cub and Scout Halls. Also for more swampy terrain, something both dogs revel in. I turned at the foofy slide (often spelled foefie slide, is the South African term for a zip line). Fergus followed. I walked 2.8 kms.
This public facility for walking dogs is truly amazing. It is clean and well kept. It is popular amongst walkers/runners with or without dogs, and while I do believe that there are occasional dog differences (scraps), I have yet to see one.
If you have any comments, corrections, suggestions or plain criticism,
I would appreciate it if you would communicate the same to me.
