Fifer is a phrase that cricketers use to denote a bowler having taken five wickets in a single innings of a Cricket Match. The bowler usually also gets to keep the Ball he used as a trophy. Well my Grandson Isaac just got his first, "Fifer"! It has been a long haul, and is a trophy well deserved.

Where did it all start? When our Australian, Perth-based Grand Children were still in Primary School, Edith and I would travel to Australia to spend January with/minding the Grand Children.

Shortly before the end of our second to last visit, Cheryl took her Family and Edith and I, to the AGM of the local cricket club. Isaac was assigned to the the team representing his age group, and Dad nominated for the Committee for the next season. During our last visit a year later, Edith and I together with Isaac's sister Ingrid, attended obligatory Net Practice Sessions.

It seems like it all paid off!!!
Well done Isaac!!!
