The guy wearing a DA T-Shirt in the photograph below is Bruce. Bruce first started working for the DA 15 years ago when Dave Ryder stood for election as the Councillor for Ward 25 in Pietermaritzburg. That support has continued and it has been characterised by Bruce's dedication to Ward 25. He has consistently endeavoured to ensure that i) Ward 25 Rate Payers get a return for the rates that they pay, and ii) Pietermaritzburg is a City that we all can be proud of.
Bruce is partially sighted and does not Qualify for a Driving Licence. He rides a bicycle. Initially it was a pedal bicycle that took him to school in the morning and home again in the afternoon. These days it is an eBike, and his rides not only take him to the four corners of Pietermaritzburg, they have resulted in many folk having become acquainted with the tall oke on a bicycle.
Now for the, "Nitty gritties". Dave Ryder was the last DA Ward 25 Councilor who actually resided in Ward 25. I guess the Rate Payers of Ward 25 are responsible for that. Bruce probably is not an ideal canidate for that role, and I accept that. However I sure as Hell believe that he should now be tested as a DA Proportional Representation Councillor. For that to happen, he should be close the the top of the list of DA Proportional Representation Councillor candidates vying for a seat on the Pietermaritzburg Municipal Council.
